Committee of Seventy
Who: An organization founded to combat corruption in Philadelphia, best known for the ballot creation tool but housing it on a dated and hard to navigate site.
What they needed: A heavy duty web brand refresh and a way to make their content accessible without losing any of the important stuff. Also a website with only one navigation bar.
What I did: Established a new design system taking cues from C70’s recent annual report, collaborated with a UX Strategist to create page templates based on reusing simple and organized components, documented the design system, handed the designs off to engineering, fielded questions as they developed the site, and conducted QA testing for desktop and mobile versions.
The C70 homepage set the tone for the rest of the site: it needed to explain what their mission was and show how they were serving Pennsylvania, while being friendly and approachable for all kinds of different people. Color choices were made to make sure no particular party was being presented as the main audience. Cards and icons were used to bring fun to what could have been a long page of blocks of text.
